An easy recipe for sesame salt-flavored pasta and stir-fried cabbage that can be made even on days when you lack motivation. It's a one-pan dish, minimizing washing up, and the aroma of sesame and butter is appetizing.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients (1 serving)

  • 1.4mm Pasta 100g
  • Cabbage 1/8 head (160g)
  • Butter 10g

Seasonings

  • Salt 1 pinch
  • Sesame Salt 1/2 tbsp and 1 tsp
  • Sesame Oil just under 1 tbsp

Steps

  1. Tear 1/8 head of cabbage (160g) into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add just under 1 tbsp sesame oil.
  3. Add the torn cabbage and stir-fry. Tip! Tearing the cabbage instead of cutting it with a knife creates jagged edges that easily absorb oil and seasoning.
  4. Once the cabbage has softened, add 1 tsp sesame salt and mix to coat everything. Tip! The simple combination of sesame oil and sesame salt highlights the sesame flavor, making it appealing even to those who dislike vegetables.
  5. In a separate frying pan (or a washed one), add 320ml water and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  6. Once boiling, add 1 pinch salt.
  7. Add 100g of 1.4mm pasta to the pan, twisting it as you submerge it completely. Tip! Twisting the pasta as you submerge it helps it cook more evenly in the water.
  8. Occasionally stir with tongs to prevent the pasta from sticking together.
  9. Simmer for about 4 and a half minutes, until most of the water has evaporated.
  10. While a little liquid remains, add 10g butter and 1/2 tbsp sesame salt.
  11. Mix well to coat the pasta with butter and sesame salt. Tip! The combination of sesame salt and butter creates a savory aroma reminiscent of "Daigaku Imo" (candied sweet potato), which pairs wonderfully with pasta.
  12. Lightly sprinkle with sesame salt as a finishing touch.
  13. Plate and serve.
