Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Peeled shrimp 100g
- Fish paste (hanpen) 1 sheet
- Potato 1 (100-150g)
- Potato Starch 1 tbsp
- Breadcrumbs 3 tbsp
Seasonings
- [A] Cooking Sake (Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
- [A] Grated garlic 1 tsp
- Salt (to taste)
- Potato Starch 1 tbsp
Steps
- Finely chop 100g peeled shrimp, then mince with a knife.
- Place 1 sheet of fish paste in a plastic bag and mash until smooth.
- Add 1 tbsp potato starch, 1 tbsp cooking sake, 1 tsp grated garlic, and the minced shrimp to the mashed fish paste. Mix well.
- Peel 1 potato, remove any eyes, and dice into small 3mm cubes.
- Place the diced potato in a tray, sprinkle with 1 tbsp potato starch and a pinch of salt, and coat the potato pieces.
- Add 3 tbsp breadcrumbs to the potato and mix.
- Cut off a corner of the plastic bag with the shrimp and fish paste mixture and squeeze out bite-sized portions.
- Shape the squeezed portions into balls by coating them with the potato and breadcrumb mixture.
- Gently press and shape the balls to ensure the potato adheres well to the mixture. (Key Tip! Thoroughly pressing the potato and breadcrumbs onto the mixture will prevent them from falling off during frying.)
- Once shaped into balls, heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and arrange the shrimp potato balls.
- Cook until golden brown on all sides, turning them occasionally.
- After cooking, remove from the pan, drain excess oil, and serve on a plate.
