Ingredients
Main Ingredients (Makes 6 hash browns)
- Potatoes 300g
- Potato Starch 1 tbsp
- Melting Sliced Cheese 2 slices
Seasonings
- Granulated Consommé 1/2 tsp
- Sugar 1/4 tsp
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- Frying Oil (as needed)
Steps
- Peel the potatoes.
- Slice the peeled potatoes into 5mm thick pieces, then rotate 90 degrees and slice again into 5mm thick pieces.
- Place the sliced potatoes into a bowl.
- Cover the bowl loosely with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 7 minutes.
- After heating, remove the plastic wrap and add 1/4 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp granulated consommé, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Mash about 30% of the potatoes while mixing with the seasonings.
- Add 1 tbsp potato starch and mix without mashing, just until combined.
- Mash about half of the remaining potatoes.
- Cover the surface tightly with plastic wrap and let cool to room temperature.
- Cut the 2 slices of melting sliced cheese into 3 equal pieces.
- Lightly grease your hands with vegetable oil.
- Take a small amount of the potato mixture, shape it into a ball, then flatten it by pressing with your hands.
- Fold the flattened dough into thirds, place the cut sliced cheese in the center. Wrap the cheese with the surrounding dough, making sure it doesn't poke out.
- Shape the entire piece into a neat form, about 1cm thick.
- Heat an appropriate amount of frying oil in a frying pan and add the shaped hash browns.
- Once one side is fried, flip it over after about 1 minute.
- Fry the other side similarly.
- Once both sides have a nice golden brown color, remove from the frying pan.
