- Beef steak 1-2 pieces
- Warm cooked rice (Tsuya Hime) 400g
- Garlic 2 cloves
- Finely chopped green onions 2-3 stalks worth
- Butter 5g
Seasonings
- Olive oil 1 tbsp
- Salt (to taste)
- Coarse ground pepper (to taste)
- Soy sauce 1.5 tbsp
Steps
- Peel 2 cloves of garlic.
- Prepare 1 clove of garlic by crushing it for the steak.
- Prepare the remaining 1 clove of garlic by mincing it for the garlic rice.
- Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and the minced garlic to a cold frying pan.
- Heat over low heat, slowly infusing the olive oil with the garlic aroma.
- Heat until the edges of the garlic are just slightly colored.
- Add 400g of warm cooked rice and mix the garlic oil throughout the rice.
- Spread the rice evenly and stir-fry without tossing, allowing it to sear. The key is to stir-fry by flipping the rice like cutting sushi rice, to avoid crushing the grains.
- Pour 1.5 tbsp of soy sauce into the empty space of the frying pan and let it caramelize.
- Mix the caramelized soy sauce into the entire portion of rice.
- Add the 2-3 stalks worth of finely chopped green onions, and season with salt (to taste) and coarse ground pepper (to taste).
- Mix briefly.
- Finally, add 5g of butter and mix everything together.
- Portion half of the finished garlic rice into a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and keep warm.
- Add a little olive oil to the frying pan, and place the crushed 1 clove of garlic in it while cold.
- Heat over low heat, infusing the oil with the garlic aroma. The key is that crushed garlic becomes sweet and tender when heated.
- Once it starts sizzling, add the beef steak 1-2 pieces, seasoned with salt (to taste) just before searing, salt-side down.
- Immediately sprinkle salt (to taste) on the top surface as well, and sear until a golden brown crust forms.
- Flip the beef steak, place the crushed garlic on top of the meat, and sear the other side.
- Once cooked, remove from the pan and cut into easy-to-eat pieces.
- Arrange the cut beef steak over the plated garlic rice.
- Serve the tender, cooked crushed garlic alongside.
- Sprinkle with green onions (to taste) and add coarse ground pepper (to taste) if desired.
