Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Zucchini 1 (200g)
- Butter 10g
- Garlic 1 clove
Seasonings
- [A] Soy Sauce 2 tsp
- [A] Worcestershire Sauce 1 tsp
- [A] Sake 1 tsp
- [A] MSG(Ajinomoto) 3 dashes
- Black Pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
- Salt to taste
Steps
- Peel the garlic and slice 1 clove into rounds.
- Cut the zucchini in half lengthwise and make shallow crosshatch cuts on the cut sides. [Pro Tip!] Making crosshatch cuts helps the zucchini cook faster and absorb flavor better.
- Lightly sprinkle salt and pepper to taste on the surface of the zucchini.
- Put 10g butter in a frying pan and heat over medium heat.
- Once the butter has melted, sauté the sliced garlic.
- When the garlic turns brown and becomes crispy garlic chips, remove them. [Pro Tip!] In vegetable dishes without meat, the aroma of garlic evokes the umami of meat, enhancing satisfaction.
- In the same frying pan, place the cut side of the crosshatch-cut zucchini down and sear.
- Once the zucchini has a nice sear on its surface, cover and steam-fry over medium-low heat for 4-5 minutes. [Pro Tip!] Steam-frying ensures the zucchini is thoroughly cooked and remains juicy inside.
- Add 2 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp sake, and 3 dashes MSG(Ajinomoto) to the steam-fried zucchini.
- Simmer the sauce until it thickens, coating the zucchini. [Pro Tip!] Reducing the sauce concentrates the flavors, and the spice of Worcestershire sauce adds a rich depth.
- Plate the zucchini, sprinkle with the reserved garlic chips and black pepper to taste, and serve.
