Ingredients
Main Ingredients (Serves 2 (using 2 green onions))
- Green onions 2 stalks
Seasonings
- [A] Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 3 tbsp
- [A] Sugar 1.5 tbsp
- [A] Soy Sauce 4 tbsp
- [A] Water 3 tbsp
- [A] Sesame Oil 2 tbsp
- [A] Toasted Sesame Seeds 1 tbsp
- [A] Grated Garlic 0.5 tbsp
- [A] Ichimi Togarashi (Japanese Chili Powder) to taste
Steps
- Cut the 2 green onions diagonally into large rounds.
- Briefly blanch the green onions in plenty of boiling water for about 30 seconds.
- Drain the blanched green onions in a colander, let them cool, and rinse quickly with water. (Key Tip!) Avoid soaking in water for too long as it will reduce the green onion's flavor; rinse for approximately 1-2 minutes.
- Squeeze the water thoroughly from the rinsed and cooled green onions.
- In a microwave-safe container, combine Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 3 tbsp and Sugar 1.5 tbsp. Microwave on 600W for about 30 seconds.
- Once the alcohol has evaporated and the sugar has dissolved, add Soy Sauce 4 tbsp, Water 3 tbsp, Sesame Oil 2 tbsp, Toasted Sesame Seeds 1 tbsp, and Grated Garlic 0.5 tbsp. If you like it spicy, add Ichimi Togarashi (Japanese Chili Powder) to taste.
- Mix all the seasonings together, then add the diagonally cut green onions.
- Mix the green onions and seasonings thoroughly, then marinate in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
- Once the green onions have absorbed the flavors well, they are ready to serve.
