Made in just one frying pan! This recipe for 'Hashed Pork' uses thinly sliced pork and onions, making it quick and incredibly satisfying with rice. With minimal ingredients and easy-to-use seasonings, you can enjoy a budget-friendly yet highly fulfilling meal. Less washing up makes it perfect for busy days too.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- 1 Onion (200g)
- 200g Thinly Sliced Pork
- 1.5 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
Seasonings
- [A] 3 tbsp Ketchup
- [A] 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- [A] 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
- [A] 1/2 tsp Granulated Consomme
- 200ml Water
- Salt (to taste)
Steps
- Halve, peel, and thinly slice 1 Onion (200g).
- Tear 200g Thinly Sliced Pork into bite-sized pieces and place in a frying pan.
- Add 3 tbsp Ketchup, 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce, 1 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1.5 tbsp All-Purpose Flour, and 1/2 tsp Granulated Consomme to the pork in the frying pan. Mix well to coat.
- Add the thinly sliced onion and mix again.
- Heat the frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the pan is hot, stir, scraping from the bottom as you cook. (Key Tip!) Cook until the onions are softened and the pork is about 80% cooked.
- Add 200ml Water, stir everything together, and bring to a boil over high heat.
- Continue to heat, scraping any seasoning stuck to the sides of the pan with your spatula.
- Simmer over medium heat for about 3 minutes, until the sauce thickens and the pork is fully cooked.
- Turn off the heat and season with Salt (to taste).
- Serve the Hashed Pork over a bowl of rice.
