Simply pan-fry potatoes and cheese! This crispy and fragrant cheesy potato dish is ready in just 10 minutes. It's perfect as a snack or for when you need an extra side dish, and it's a budget-friendly, easy recipe.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Medium Potato 1 (approx. 150g)
- Mixed Cheese 70g
Seasonings
- Vegetable Oil 2 tsp
- Coarsely Ground Black Pepper (to taste)
- Dried Parsley (to taste)
Steps
- Peel and remove any eyes from 1 medium potato (approx. 150g).
- Thinly slice the potato into 1mm rounds.
- Heat 2 tsp of vegetable oil in a frying pan and spread it evenly.
- Layer the potato slices, overlapping them without any gaps, to fill the pan. (Key Tip!) Using the potato slices as they are after cutting prevents starch from washing off, helping the slices stick together for a clean finish.
- Heat the frying pan over medium-high heat, then reduce to medium heat and cook until browned.
- Once browned, transfer the potato slices to a plate.
- Drizzle the oil remaining in the pan over the potato slices. (Be careful not to burn yourself).
- Cover the pan with a plate, flip the potato slices back into the pan, and cook over medium heat until browned on the other side.
- Once browned on both sides, transfer the potato slices to a plate.
- Spread 70g of mixed cheese in the frying pan.
- Return the potato slices to the pan and place them on top of the cheese.
- Cook over medium-high heat until the cheese is melted and browned.
- Once the cheese is browned, cover with a plate, flip, and remove.
- Sprinkle with coarsely ground black pepper and dried parsley to taste. Enjoy!
