Marinated avocado, which can be made without cooking, is perfect as a side dish for rice or a snack with drinks. It's also ideal for making ahead, as the flavors seep in just by chopping and chilling. This is a recommended dish that can be easily prepared even on busy days.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients (2 servings)
- Avocado 2
- Onion 1/8
Seasonings
- Soy Sauce 1.5 tbsp
- Sugar 1 tbsp
- Vinegar 1.5 tbsp
- Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine) 1 tbsp
Steps
- Thinly slice 1/8 onion.
- In a bowl, combine 1.5 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp sugar, 1.5 tbsp vinegar, and 1 tbsp Mirin (Sweet Rice Wine). Mix well.
- Cover the bowl with the mixed sauce with plastic wrap and heat in the microwave.
- Add the thinly sliced onion to the heated sauce and mix. [Key Tip!] The hot sauce helps create a nice texture for the onion.
- Make a cut halfway into the avocado, twist to remove the pit, and cut in half lengthwise.
- Peel the skin off the halved avocado and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Place the cut avocado pieces into the prepared sauce.
- Cut the remaining avocado in the same way and marinate in the sauce.
- Stir occasionally to coat evenly, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator. [Key Tip!] Just wait for the flavors to meld into the marinated avocado.
- Once chilled and flavored, transfer to a serving dish.
