Ingredients
Main Ingredients (1-2 servings)
- 1 can tuna
- 2 slices of 6-slice bread
- 40g pizza cheese or cheddar cheese
- 10g butter
Seasonings
- [A] 25g mayonnaise
- [A] 5g ketchup
- [A] 3 cloves grated garlic
- [A] black pepper to taste
- [A] 5 shakes MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG)
- [A] 1/4 tsp salt
- [A] 4cm Japanese mustard
- [A] 1/4 tsp sugar
Steps
- Thoroughly drain the oil from 1 can tuna. [Expert Tip!] The oil from tuna is rich in umami, so it can be used for soups, aglio e olio, etc.
- In a bowl, add 1 can drained tuna, 25g mayonnaise, 5g ketchup, 3 cloves grated garlic, black pepper to taste, 5 shakes MSG(Ajinomoto) (MSG), 1/4 tsp salt, 4cm Japanese mustard, and 1/4 tsp sugar, then mix well.
- On one of the 2 slices of 6-slice bread, spread all of the prepared tuna filling.
- Top the tuna filling with 40g pizza cheese or cheddar cheese, and sandwich with the other slice of bread.
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat, and melt 5g butter.
- Place the sandwich on the melted butter, and cook while lightly pressing down. [Expert Tip!] Pressing down while cooking will result in a crispy and fragrant finish.
- Flip the sandwich, and add the remaining 5g butter to the pan.
- Press down again and cook until both sides are golden brown. [Expert Tip!] The sandwich is ready when the cheese has melted and the whole thing is nicely browned.
- Cut the finished tuna melt sandwich in half.
